Continued innovation in the productivity space has given us many exciting features and apps in the last few years. The wiki movement gave us Notion, the bi-directional popularity gave us Obsidian and Roam and the APIs gave us a better way to connect our favorite productivity tools together.

Now a new type of application aims to compete against the all-in-one productivity app by a different approach.

Tools, in which I’m calling “consolidation apps” are producing a holistic view of all the tools you use, rather than trying to replace them.

Essentially, if you used Trello, Todoist and Google Calendar — instead of trying to replace them, tools are becoming the hub for them.
