Notion Will Wake You Up in 5 Years
How Productivity Wikis Turn Into Personal Dashboards
For those who don’t know, Notion is currently the most-talked-about productivity software in the world right now.
This personal and team wiki allow you to capture your brain’s knowledge and prepare yourself with build-your-own tools from powerful databases.
So, why will Notion wake you up in the future?!
👨🏼🏭 Iron Man Productivity
Not too far from now, shortly, productivity software will bake into their systems, more machine learning. At first, we’ll all be petrified…
It’s reading my wedding vows!
I don’t want it to know my brother’s birthday!
And then we’ll settle, and if the system works well, it’ll all feel natural. You’re probably wondering, why on earth would it need to read my personal notes, or calendar entries from 2 years ago, or even my busy workday schedule!?
Context and learning.
All productivity software will gather what’s current about you now, to predict what will suit you best for work and life in the future.
In the beginning, there will be uproar, but with the AI systems getting smarter, people will see it more as a time-saving god than a big brother style toolkit.
With that, in 10–15 years, we’d expect to see Tony Stark-grade tools for our everyday life. Our very own portable J.A.R.V.I.S with all they need to know about us and our future.

🙀 Creepy right?!
200%. The idea that a system would become your work buddy is a scary concept, but the machine will only be the actioner, and we’d be the controllers, so for now, our job security is partially intact.
But this is all heading to tools like Notion if they stay relevant and innovative.
The reason I say this is because we’ve all changed the way we use tools since Notion landed. Many of us are looking at “wiki” or outliner tools as our main sets of resources, as our bases for our work and our static information.
This doesn’t differ from the personal dashboard concept, except there’s no one running the ship.
With a combination of:
- Improved templating (the look)
- Introduction of suggestive information (so the system can learn)
- Adding machine learning abilities
- Sprinkle of a few more years (5–10 years)
🔮 The Future with Notion

Notion could very well be playing music to start your day, or speaking with your management teams and re-scheduling times for you based on your child’s ballet time changing…
It would be the contextual hub (with all its knowledge on you) combined with its aim to serve you as you go across your day.
This is all years and years off, but this wave of new software — reminds me that we’re heading for that future and that soon we’ll all have to come to terms with our tools knowing our lives and doing many of our daily chores for us — that we previously hunted around for.
And Notion would indeed become the first thing you opened in the morning, to the last thing you closed.
