Notion’s New AI Won’t Work
A good step forward, but not the goal Notion should go for
The new AI introduction by Notion is cool!
Introducing an ability to use generative AI — writing, brainstorming, summarising and translating — is epic and a great step forward…
But as a collective, not the step forward Notion needs to become AI-ready as a productivity tool. In a recent video, filmed back in August, I summarised the value Notion could have if it structured itself a bit more.
Structure, very simply, meaning an ability for an AI system to collectively known what you’re doing in the app, versus your own hand-made layout, your own elements and tools.
Current tools like Mem, LEX and Jasper
All are using this same technology — GTP-3 — an AI tool from OpenAI — and a great way to enhance an experience, but all of them (minus Jasper and LEX) lack an ability to go further with the core structure of their app.
